The Japanese American Citizens League released a statement on Nov. 4 congratulating candidates “who made history” in Tuesday’s midterm elections.

The statement, which can be found here, also thanked voters and recognized volunteers, poll workers and election officials.

Also in the statement, JACL said the Nov. 3 election “marks meaningful progress toward a government that reflects the full diversity of our nation.”

At the national level, the election’s results saw Democrats take from Republicans control of both chambers of Congress. On the Senate side, Democratic candidates won 54 seats and take the majority. On the House side, Democrats took a commanding 252 seat majority.

Among governors, Democrats won 28 states, with Kansas still uncalled as of when JACL’s statement was released.
